HANNAH ENGLISH

La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios Invisible Fluid SPF50+ is a reformulation of the iconic Anthelios XL Ultra Light SPF50+ and I’m thrilled to confirm it’s even better than the original.
So good.
Potential new entry to my top 5 sunscreens good.
Let’s dive in.

Inclusivity:
Rubs in sheer! Also makes use of organic UV filters, which are much less likely to throw a whitecast. I have yet to see a review from someone with a deep skintone, so please link me in the comments if you find one!

Makeup compatibility:
Takes on the texture your skincare and makeup have given you.
It’s so, so lightweight.
This photo was taken in soft daylight. Swipe for one with flash – no flashback, and no greasy shine. The flash ALWAYS adds greasy shine. I’m gooped.
Applies nicely over makeup with a dry velour sponge, see my Instagram story highlights for a demo (and don’t forget to follow me on Instagram while you’re there!)
I will say, it dries down quite quickly so you’ll need to work fast. It doesn’t pill for me though, and I intentionally rubbed it in for too long to test this.

Finish: Satin

Skin Types:
Literally any. It looks and feels like nothing on the skin.

Sensitivity:
None experienced, and I tested it the day after retinol night

Eye Sting:
No

UV Filters:
Octisalate, Uvinul T150, Tinosorb S, Avobenzone, Mexoryl SX, Mexoryl XL.
Note – the Mexoryls are exclusive to L’Oreal group sunscreens and give great UVA protection.

Fragrance:
No. This is in contrast to the tinted version, which does have a scent.

Alcohol:
Yes, you need alcohol to get a sunscreen this lightweight and I’m here for it.

Bonus Ingredients:
Shine-absorbing Silica, aerating Perlite, antioxidant and soothing Vitamin E.
Hydration from Glycerin, and there’s also a lot of Diisopropyl Sebacate – a solvent that gives sunscreens a light finish and helps boost the UV filters’ protection.

AUST-L: 315643

Comparison between old and new formula:⁣
It’s MUCH lighter than the old formula, which was already light. It feels like… nothing on the skin. It’s great!
The updated version has left out the Octocrylene in favour of Octisalate, which causes less frequent contact allergy.
It’s less moisturising than the previous version, but in a good way, especially for summer. Not greasy at all!
Altogether a big yes from me!
